Ventura County Blog

A blog about local Ventura County issues. May be better than some newspapers.

Nuclear war is as possible as it ever was. Plan to survive.

China. Ukraine. Russia. Iran. Global instability and the specter of WWIII is raising is ugly head again after 30 years. Nuclear warheads could target the major cities of the United States in a strategy known as counter-value targeting. Radioactive fallout may drift downwind from missile silos and command bunkers. Millions of civilians could die. This isn't 1962 when many homes had fallout shelters and citizens could go to public shelters. The basics of civil defense aren't even taught anymore.

For a homeowner in the heartland living in a standard tract home without a basement, death may seen inevitable should a nuclear strike happen. It is not! People are living in fear because of decades of bad information and myths about nuclear war. You more than likely will survive a nuclear attack and can make it through the aftermath if you take sensible precautions NOW.
Survive nuclear war

You will need to defend your home and neighborhood from riots

“If you are not prepared to use force to defend civilization, then be prepared to accept barbarism.” (Thomas Sowell). The first two rules of Matt Graham's Killhouse Rules:
1. Nobody is coming to save you.
2. Everything is your responsibility.

Ventura County Sheriff EMP (novel) Series

Can the men and women of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office keep the threads of society together while everything falls apart, or do they descend into the same brutality as the villains? An Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) robs Southern California of electricity, communications, and utilities while cars are starved of fuel. In the aftermath of the apocalypse, the deputies’ honor is tested, but honor can’t fill empty bellies and soon their ranks begin to thin.

As violence and desperation increases and a mysterious enemy has cast its hungry eyes on the county, the deputies must leave behind their old ways and find a balance between being a warrior and a keeper of the peace. In the apocalyptic chaos, can the men and women of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office keep the threads of society together while everything falls apart, or do they descend into the same brutality as the villains?

Who is Don Shift? Nobody. Not a SWAT operator or a Majors detective. Just an everyman in tan and green.
